Player Bio

David Litkenhus is the embodiment of athletic excellence, leadership, and service. A natural competitor, David made his mark early at Benedictine College, where he was an All-American and one of the most dominant guards in the program’s history. In 1994, after a standout college career, David faced a defining choice between pursuing professional basketball or military service. He chose to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force. In 2000, David transitioned to the United States Marine Corps, commissioning as an Officer. Over a distinguished Marine career, he deployed multiple times to Afghanistan and Iraq, where he was decorated for his leadership and valor under fire. During this time, he also led the Marine Corps Endurance Team Program, mentoring and training service members in elite-level athletic competition. David retired honorably from the Marine Corps in 2016. Since retirement, David has remained deeply committed to veteran advocacy and charitable causes, raising funds and awareness for organizations supporting those who have served. Professionally, he continues to contribute to national defense through his work with Battelle Memorial Institute. A lifelong athlete, David has competed in triathlons and endurance events across the country and now focuses his energy on competitive cycling, where his drive and discipline remain unmatched. He’s also an accomplished golfer with a plus handicap, proving that his athletic versatility knows no limits. Known affectionately to friends as “Big Lick,” David brings a unique combination of toughness, humility, and competitive fire to everything he does—whether serving his country, leading on the field, or stepping back onto the court for a great cause.
